Winter holidays Outfits

It's not always easy to feel glamorous and sexy in the cold winter months. Dry skin, holiday feasting, chunky sweaters and hair-flattening hats certainly don't compare to a pair of great heels or your favorite summer dress. However, here are a few tips on how to accessorize and keep your wardrobe fabulous in the winter.

The good news is, winter accessories are often larger, staple items that you can wear all the time and really enjoy. Find a pair of boots (Uggs, Wellies, etc) that you just love to wear, the perfect oversized bag or a snug wool coat that makes you feel great. It's like wearing your favorite outfit every day.

Since winter accessories need to be both fashionable and functionable for the cold, there's more focus on the design, color and style of winter outerwear. You don't necessarily want to make a statement with the fit, but a bold print or flattering shape. For example, wear a bright colored, long glove with a crop-sleeved jacket to really make a statement. Long gloves are very flattering, classic and still warm for the winter season.

Scarves, hats and mittens become the season's "jewelry," so you should choose colors that are flattering for your skin-tone but that stand out and really add to your outfit. Don't be afraid of a pom-pom or a big stripe, just because everything is cold and gray outside doesn't mean your clothes have to be too. Winter hats don't necessarily have to be those hair-flattening beanie-shaped ones (which are usually more functionable than fashionable) if you don't want them to be. You could wear a bucket-shaped hat, a beret, a faux-fur hat, a riding hat, a floppy-rimmed hat, etc. Find something that works best for you.

There are great wool coats in every size, shape and style so there is certainly a coat out there for everyone. Find a jacket that you love and that you are proud of because you will be wearing it every day. Get a jacket with a belt that cinches to accent your waist or a longer jacket that hits at your thighs if you have a larger waist or if you are tall. Find a jacket that you feel great in.
