Men's Fashion Trends

It can be more challenging for men to find information about the latest fashion trends. The good news is that menswear is less fickle than women's fashions, so trends have longer staying power. Update your style with some of the latest accessories and fashion finds for men.

For men on the cutting edge of fashion, there have been some notable styles on the runway. The deep V-neck is hot, but the look bares a lot of chest so some men opt to wear the deep V on a cardigan instead. Graphic black and white contrasts have been big, as has red. Suit jackets paired with shorts are making a comeback, though the shorts typically extend to the knee or lower. Hoodies remain popular cover-ups, but parkas are also happening.

Monochromes and blacks are popular due to the goth influence. Many designers pick dark pieces as their favorites in men's fashion trends. San Francisco boutique owner David Becker names the Rag and Bone black bomber jacket as a style essential. Tom Kalenderian, the executive vice president for menswear at Barney's New York recommends a Ralph Lauren Black Label olive linen suit or a hand-painted jacket made by Comme de Garcons and Brett Westfall. Tommy Fazio, the men's fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman, likes Robinson les Bains swim trunks. The buyers for Seattle's hip Blackbird shop recommend the Common Projects canvas safari boots, the Robert Geller leather jacket and Vanishing Elephant's skinny roll-leg jeans.
If you like your look inspired by urban streets as opposed to Parisian catwalks, the skinny leg jean and distressed denim are hot trends for men. Vintage designer pieces integrated with old favorites or flea market finds are also popular. Hats and tats are big, and the untrimmed beard has had a comeback. Good accessory options are messenger bags, aviator sunglasses, chain necklaces and scarves. Hoodies, custom sneakers and knee-length shorts are favorites for the skater-inspired look.
