Scarves for all Fashion

Whether your neck is warm or cold, scarves can be stylish additions to almost any outfit. In winter, they serve as cozy accessories and in summer, they’re bohemian finishes to a dress or blouse. But besides a degree of learned confidence and grace, wearing scarves requires a basic knowledge of artsy fashion.

Here’s another example of the scarf from a current Ralph Lauren ad. Notice the pearl stud earrings, watch and pinky ring. And this look isn’t limited to separates. In the August issue of Allure magazine, you’ll find the below-pictured Proenza Schouler dress of silk twill.

Not only are they fairly inexpensive, they can be purchased in a variety of fabrics, colors, and styles. With a scarf, you can show your personality and keep your body heat in your jacket. Scarves will make you look put together, and many can even be worn inside. Men should stick with either scarves that are either one color or in a simple pattern such as wide stripes to help keep the look masculine. Try wearing a color that will either accent your coat or match your hat.

The model pictured has a long neck, but even if her neck was not especially long, you can see that there is more room here for the additional of earrings. Bracelet-length sleeves continue to allow for adornment at the wrist, at least until the weather gets so cold that gloves are needed to cover up that bit of flesh as well.

As with any fashion item, never let ignorance or inexperience prevent you from trying something new. Scarves can be a fresh addition to any wardrobe, but you have to learn how to wear them!
